Location, location, location. We know that living on campus is convenient. But it can also help college students succeed academically and emotionally! Learn more about the housing-application process for first-year students, transfer students or returning students

Your options include suite-style and apartment-style residence halls as well as historic houses. 

All College of Charleston halls and houses have:

  • air conditioning
  • free washers and dryers
  • free high-speed Wi-Fi
  • either a MicroFridge, kitchenette or full kitchen

Housing Definitions and Types


The College offers a variety of living options, from traditional rooms and apartments to charming historic homes. Some options are for returners only. See our Hall Availability section for more information.
  • Housing Definitions

    Private room: Student has their own bedroom but shares common spaces, including bathrooms

    Double room: Student shares a bedroom with one other person

    Triple room: Student shares a bedroom with two other people

    Quadruple room: Student shares a bedroom with three other people

     

    MicroFridge: Microwave and small refrigerator combination. Refrigerator may have small freezer

    Kitchenette: Full size refrigerator, microwave, sink and storage area

    Kitchenette with induction cooktop: Full-size refrigerator, microwave, sink, induction cooktop and storage area

    Full kitchen: Full-size refrigerator, microwave, sink, range with stove, dishwasher (unless noted) and storage area

  • Suites

    Suites have a common space and bathroom(s) that students share with their roommate(s) and suitemates. Some suites have kitchenettes. Click on the building name to learn more about each one.

  • Jack and Jill Suites

    Jack and Jill suites have an entrance to a bedroom from a common hallway and an internal shared bathroom that students share with their roommate(s) and suitemates.

  • Apartments

    Apartments have a full kitchen with a dishwasher, common space and bathrooms that students share with their roommate(s) and suitemates. Some have a washer/dryer in the apartment and others have shared laundry rooms in the building.

    To live in a Greek house, students must be a member in good standing of the Greek organization. First-semester, first-year students are not allowed to live in any Greek houses. Learn more on the Historic Houses page

Take a look at what's currently available for the 2024-2025 Academic Year. You'll see that some halls and the historic houses are for returning students and some halls are for first-year students. Some halls house both. Hall/house availability is subject to change.

Housing Rates


The following pricing is for the 2024-2025 academic year. Hall/house availability is subject to change.

The Housing Contract is a binding contract for the entire academic year (two semesters) from August to May. Housing rates are approved by the Board of Trustees.
