The City of Charleston has a rich history, and what better way to immerse yourself in our stellar location than by living in one of our historic homes?

Open to returning students

Historic houses are another type of “residence hall,” typically for upperclass students who are looking for a unique community. Each bedroom is furnished - just like a traditional residence hall (either a full-size or twin XL bed, desk, desk chair, dresser and either wardrobe or closet).

  • Every house has access to free laundry.
  • Each house has a different layout, which you can see during the room-selection process.
  • Houses have full kitchens (some do not have dishwashers) and some have shared living spaces. 

Which location is best for you?

  • Houses on Bull Street are near the Rita Hollings Science Center and Addlestone Library.
  • Houses on Coming Street are across from the Addlestone Library.
  • Houses on Glebe Street are steps away from the Cistern Yard and the heart of campus.
  • Houses on Meeting Street are across from TD Arena and around the corner from Marion Square.
  • Houses on St. Philip Street are minutes to King Street and next to Marty’s Place.
  • Houses on Wentworth Street are minutes to King Street and close to Marty’s Place.

  • Open to female students

    4 Bull has six bedrooms, which are a mix of double- and private-occupancy, and three shared bathrooms. Housemates share a full kitchen with microwave, stove, full-size refrigerator and a large kitchen island with stools. The living room has soft seating, a small end table and a smart TV. There are four original non-functioning fireplaces. Residents share a free washer and dryer in the house. The front porch is also furnished with tables and chairs. 

    70 Coming has five bedrooms, which are a mix of triple-, double- and private-occupancy, and three shared bathrooms. Housemates share a full kitchen with microwave, stove and full-size refrigerator, as well as a dining table  and chairs. There are three original non-functioning fireplaces. Residents share a free washer and dryer in the house.

    72 Coming has six bedrooms, which are a mix of double- and private-occupancy, and 2 ½ shared bathrooms. Housemates share a full kitchen with microwave, stove and full-size refrigerator, as well as a free washer and dryer in the house. The second-floor porch is furnished with chairs.

    16 1/2 Glebe is a charming cottage house that has one double bedroom and a shared bathroom. Housemates share a full kitchen with microwave, stove and full-size refrigerator. The house features a study space on the ground floor. Residents share a free washer and dryer with the residents in 12 Glebe. 

    15 St. Philip has six bedrooms, which are a mix of triple-, double- and private-occupancy, and three shared bathrooms. Housemates share a full kitchen with microwave, stove, dishwasher and full-size refrigerator, as well as a large kitchen island with stools. The living room has soft seating and a small end table. There are three original non-functioning fireplaces. Residents share a free washer and dryer in the house. The back patio is furnished with tables and chairs.

    92 Wentworth was fully renovated in 2019. The house has seven double-occupancy bedrooms and four shared bathrooms. Each bedroom has high ceilings. Housemates share a full kitchen with microwave, stove and full-size refrigerator, as well as a high-top table and chairs. The living room has soft seating, a small end table and a smart TV. Residents share a free washer and dryer in the house. Both the first- and second-floor porches are furnished with tables and chairs.

    103 Wentworth has two double-occupancy bedrooms and four private bedrooms, a large community bathroom on the second floor with three showers, two toilets, and two sinks, and a half bath on the ground floor. Each bedroom has high ceilings. Housemates share a full kitchen with microwave, stove, dishwasher and full-size refrigerator. The dining room has a table and chairs so you can enjoy a meal together or have extra study space. The house has two large living rooms with gorgeous faux fireplaces. The living rooms have soft seating, and a small end tables. Residents share a free washer and dryer in the house. The house also has a large back deck perfect for soaking up the Charleston sunshine, as well as ground-floor and second-floor piazzas.

  • Open to male students

    24 Bull has 11 bedrooms, which are a mix of double- and private-occupancy, and three double shared bathrooms. Housemates share a full kitchen with microwave, stove and full-size refrigerator. The living room has soft seating, a small end table and a smart TV. There are six original non-functioning fireplaces. Each bedroom has high ceilings. Residents share two free washers and dryers in the house with housemates and 24 Bull Annex residents. The first- and second-floor porches are furnished with tables and chairs. 

    24 Bull Annex has four bedrooms, which are a mix of double- and private-occupancy, and two shared bathrooms. Suite 101 has a shared full kitchen with microwave, stove and full-size refrigerator. Suite 102 has access to the kitchen in 24 Bull Street. Each suite has a small living room with soft seating. Residents can also use the larger living room with a smart TV in 24 Bull. There are two original non-functioning fireplaces. Each bedroom has high ceilings. Residents share two free washers and dryers located in 24 Bull.

    300 Meeting is made up of four suites, which are a mix of double- and private-occupancy bedrooms with shared bathrooms in each suite. Each suite has a full kitchen with a microwave, stove and full-size refrigerator. All suites have soft seating. Residents share two free washers and dryers next door in 298 Meeting Street.

    90 Wentworth was fully renovated in 2021. The house has five double-occupancy bedrooms, two with in-room bathrooms and the others sharing 2 ½ bathrooms. Housemates share a full kitchen with microwave, stove and full-size refrigerator. The living room has soft seating, a small end table and a smart TV. Residents share a free washer and dryer in the house. The second-floor porches are furnished with chairs. 

    101 Wentworth has two double-occupancy bedrooms and one private bedroom, a large community bathroom on the second floor with two showers, toilets, and sinks, and a half bath on the ground floor. Each bedroom has high ceilings. Housemates share a full kitchen with microwave, stove, dishwasher and full-size refrigerator. The dining room has a table and chairs so you can enjoy a meal together or have extra study space. It is connected to the living room with a two-sided faux fireplace that has the original mantels on both sides. The living room has soft seating and a small end table. Residents share a free washer and dryer in the house. The house also has a large back deck perfect for soaking up the Charleston sunshine, as well as ground-floor and second-floor piazzas.

  • Open to all upperclass students

    12 Glebe has three floors and five bedrooms, which are a mix of double- and quadruple-occupancy, each with an ensuite bathroom. Housemates share a full kitchen with microwave, dishwasher, stove, full-size refrigerator and a kitchen table and chairs. There are six original non-functioning fireplaces. Residents share a free washer and dryer in the house. The side piazza is also furnished with chairs.

    20 Glebe has three floors with six bedrooms, which are a mix of double- and triple-occupancy, each with an ensuite bathroom. Housemates share a full kitchen with microwave, dishwasher, stove and full-size refrigerator. The house features a dining/living room with table and chairs, and soft seating. There are five original non-functioning fireplaces. Residents share a free washer and dryer in the house. The side piazza is also furnished with chairs.

    298 Meeting is filled with historic charm. It is made up of eight suites that range in size. Suites are a mix of double- and private-occupancy bedrooms with shared bathrooms in each suite. Each suite has kitchens that range in size but all have a microwave, stove and a full-size refrigerator. Some suites have living rooms with soft seating and a small end table. Residents share two free washers and dryers, located at the back of the house, with housemates and residents of 300 Meeting Street.

    King George Inn has three floors and eight bedrooms, which are a mix of triple- and quadruple-occupancy, each with an ensuite bathroom. Housemates share a full kitchen with microwave, stove and full-size refrigerator. The house features a large space off the kitchen that can be used for studying or hanging out with friends. Each bedroom is filled with charm, and several have non-functioning fireplaces. Residents share a free washer and dryer in the house.

    La Maison Française (6 Bull)

    6 Bull has five bedrooms, which are a mix of double- and private-occupancy, and two shared bathrooms. Housemates share a full kitchen with microwave, stove, full-size refrigerator and a kitchen peninsula with stools. There is also a high-top table and chairs. The living room has soft seating, a small end table and a smart TV. There are four original non-functioning fireplaces. Residents share a free washer and dryer in the house. The front porch is also furnished with tables and chairs.

    La Casa Hispana (8 Bull)

    8 Bull has five bedrooms, which are a mix of double- and private-occupancy, and two shared bathrooms.     Women's and Gender Studies House (2 Bull)

    2 Bull has four bedrooms, which are a mix of double- and private-occupancy, and three shared bathrooms. Housemates share a full kitchen with microwave, dishwasher, stove, full-size refrigerator and a large kitchen island with stools. The house features a dining room with table and chairs, and a living room with soft seating, a small end table and a smart TV. There are four original non-functioning fireplaces. Residents share a free washer and dryer in the house. The front porch is also furnished with tables and chairs.

  • Greek Historic Houses

    Currently eight Greek Organizations occupy houses on Coming Street, St. Philip Street, and Wentworth Street. In order to live in a Greek house, students must be a member in good standing of the Greek organization. First-semester, first-year students are not allowed to live in any Greek houses.
