Tim Callahan

Tim Callahan is a professor of geology and environmental geosciences. A hydrologist by training, he specializes in the assessment of groundwater systems, wetlands, and watershed hydrology. Since joining the College in 2001, he has served as chair of the department of Geology and Environmental Geosciences and director of the graduate program in Environmental and Sustainability Studies. He has published over 40 peer-reviewed publications and his research has been supported by more than $1 million in external funding, with all projects involving student apprentices. His collaborators are in the private sector, non-profit groups, and local, state, and federal agencies. Before joining the College, he was a research associate at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Callahan holds a Ph.D. in Earth and Environmental Science from New Mexico Tech.

Career Highlights
Callahan has published over 40 peer-reviewed publications and has advised more than 50 undergraduate and graduate student experiential learning projects. His collaborators are in the private sector, non-profit groups, and local, state, and federal agencies. He has co-led a study abroad course to northern India multiple times with a focus on the Ganges River and its water resources.
