  • Meal Plans and Dining Dollars

    Meal Plans are easy to use and offer convenient options. Use your Cougar Card to access the plan and take advantage of the numerous dining choices the campus has to offer. First-year students living on campus are required to purchase a qualifying Meal Plan.

    You must have an active Cougar Card to tap into and out of the Addlestone Library. The Cougar Card also serves as your library card to check out materials. Each semester, students get $15 of free printing. Should you exceed this amount, you can add Cougar Cash linked to your Cougar Card to print additional pages.

  • Campus Recreation Services

    Stay fit and have fun with the tap of your Cougar Card. The George Street Fitness Center includes 15,000 square feet of fitness: cardio equipment, weight machines, free weights and benches, lockers and showers. In the Johnson and Silcox Centers, you’ll find spaces for basketball, volleyball, badminton, indoor soccer, running, squash and more.

  • Free sporting events

    Students get free admission to regular season home events with their Cougar Card. Check out team schedules and details. Go Cougars!

  • Discounted event tickets

    College of Charleston students can get free and discounted tickets to non-athletic events on campus. Some free events on campus do require tickets for entry, and all non-athletic events are ticketed through the George Street Box Office.

  • Free transportation

    The College of Charleston partners with the Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority (CARTA) to provide free bus service throughout Charleston County. Simply present your Cougar Card and you can ride for free. For more information about CARTA routes, visit the CARTA Maps and Schedules website.

  • Access to your residence

    If you live in a residence hall with a 24-hour information/security desk, you’ll be required to show and tap your Cougar Card each time you the building. And for some residence halls and houses, your Cougar Card is your key to get in. The Cougar Card will only provide access to your assigned residence hall.

    Cougar Cash allows you to draw on pre-deposited funds to purchase products and services on campus. To make a purchase, simply tap your Cougar Card at any participating location and the funds will be withdrawn from your account.

Card Activation


The Cougar Card is designed to last through your entire student experience. The privilege to use College facilities and services accessed via the card are active when you are enrolled in the current academic term. Activation is automatic and does not require any action. Privileges end for the spring term toward the end of May; fall term ends when the College closes for the December holiday break.

Active students not enrolled in summer terms may elect to pay a fee for use of recreation facilities during the summer. Please contact Campus Recreation Services, 843.953.5559 for further details.
