Information for Families

How can my student use their card?

The Cougar Card is the official College of Charleston identification card issued to members of the College community. Students use the card to:

  • access their meal plan and Dining Dollars in campus dining locations
  • access the library, check out library materials and use library printers
  • have fun and stay fit through Campus Recreation Services
  • attend College of Charleston sporting events for free
  • enter their assigned residence hall
  • ride Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority (CARTA) buses for free (even to the airport!)
  • make purchases with Cougar Cash (it works like a debit card)

Cougar Cash and Dining Dollars

Cougar Cash allows students to draw on pre-deposited funds to purchase products and services on campus. Dining Dollars can be used for food purchases from on-campus dining locations and select vending machines. Read more about Cougar Cash and Dining Dollars.
