Major or Minor in History

Earn your Bachelor of Arts in 30 credit hours, or complete the history minor in just 18 credit hours.

If you major in history, you will study topics that span geographic regions and temporal periods. You’ll also have the opportunity to customize your course of study by choosing from a number of elective courses. All students in the major will complete a 3-credit Capstone course.

History Minor - 18 Credit Hours


Complement your program of study with a minor in history. The history minor also provides a strong foundation in interdisciplinary fields, such as African American Studies, Gender Studies, and Jewish Studies. The Capstone course is optional.

Variable Topics


All history courses are thematic and cover a wide variety of fascinating topics and time periods. Our expert faculty specialize in subjects as diverse as:

  • Epidemics in nineteenth-century Britain
  • Magic and witchcraft in early modern Germany
  • Sexual violence and slavery in the Antebellum South
  • Women and political power in medieval Germany
  • The Great War and the origins of the horror genre
