  • Application Requirements

    Before applying to the M.Ed. in Teaching, Learning and Advocacy program, ensure you meet the following criteria:

    • Earned bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
    • Undergraduate GPA of 2.750 or better. GPA requirement may be waived by the program director with consent of the program admission committee.
    • No exams are required 

  • Application Process

    To apply, complete the online application and submit the following materials:

    • Online Graduate Admission Application and application fee.
    • Official Transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate coursework.
      (Unofficial transcripts are acceptable for admission consideration)
    • Statement of Purpose describing why you seek to pursue the MTLA program and a career in teaching. 
    • Professional Résumé
    • Two Recommentation Forms 
    • Official English proficiency exam scores if your primary language is not English

The M.Ed. in Teaching Learning and Advocacy combines a shared core curriculum with specialized coursework in your chosen concentration

    Build a foundation in research, policy, advocacy and learning theory.

    EDFS 632 — Educational Psychology: Learning, Cognition, and MotivationExplores how learning, cognition, and motivation shape teaching, with applications for classroom practice.

    EDFS 635 — Educational Research
    Introduces research design, implementation, and evaluation across educational settings.

    MTLA 601 — Class, Race, and Gender in Education
    Examines how social identities and systems shape educational experiences and outcomes.

    MTLA 602 — Policies and Issues in Contemporary Education
    Analyzes current education policies and the role of educators in shaping and responding to them.

    MTLA 607 — Teachers as Advocates for Children and Youth
    Develops skills for advocating for students through policy, practice, and professional engagement.

    MTLA 702 — Research and Development Project
    Guides the design and completion of an independent research project on a topic of professional interest.
