We've outlined the steps you need to complete in order to sign into the College's portal, MyPortal. This how you will do things like pay your bill and register for classes. If you have any questions about MyPortal, please refer to the MyPortal How-to Guide.

Connect With the College

1. Sign into MyPortal
NOTE: If you've previously conducted business with the College of Charleston, continue to use the same credentials. If you don't remember your previously issued credentials, please contact IT Service Desk.
Locate your College of Charleston ID (CWID) number in your acceptance packet or in your admissions portal
- Go online to MyPortal
- Username: Enter your CWID followed by @g.cofc.edu (e.g., 12345678@g.cofc.edu).
- Password: Enter your CWID, your six-digit date of birth and “A!” for your password.
(e.g., if your CWID is 90000009 and your DOB (MMDDYY) is Jan 05, 1995, then your initial password is: 90000009010595A!)

2. Set up multi-factor authentication
- In MyPortal, you will be prompted to set up multi-factor authentication
Open the authenticator app on your mobile device and click (+) to add your account. - Choose work or school account for the account type.
- The app will launch a QR code reader. (Allow access to the device's camera if prompted.)
- Log into your account on your computer, following the instructions below. You will use your phone to scan the QR code that displays on the computer after you log into your account (step 6 under 'On your computer').
- In MyPortal, you will be prompted to set up multi-factor authentication

3. Update your password, before you log out!
Reset your password on the security page of your account. If you logged out already or forgot your password refer to these instructions.

4. Look for an email from us
Watch for your permanent username.
After you make your enrollment deposit, the College will assign you a permanent username. Watch for an email with your new College username and use it to log back into MyPortal going forward.

Submit the FAFSA
You should consider submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as the application opens. Remember to include the College of Charleston as one of the recipients to prevent any delays in processing your aid.
If you're interested in applying for departmental or specialty scholarships, log in to the Cougar Scholarship Award System (CSAS) to apply for everything with one easy application. Log in using the credentials provided in your admissions portal.

Pay your nonrefundable enrollment deposit
Based on your admission status, your nonrefundable enrollment deposit is due by the following deadlines:
Spring 2025
- First-Year - December 16, 2024
- Transfer - December 16, 2024
Fall 2025
- Early Decision I - January 5, 2025
- Early Decision II - March 15, 2025
- Early Action - May 1, 2025
- Regular Decision - May 1, 2025
- Transfer - July 31, 2025
How to Submit your Deposit
- Log in to MyPortal
- Select the eBill tile.
- Select "deposits" at the top.
- From the drop-down menu, select the term you’ll be entering the College.
- You’ll be prompted to select a deposit type. Select "undergraduate deposit."
- The system will ask you to confirm that the information is correct. If everything looks good, select "continue."
- You’ll be prompted to submit the $400 nonrefundable enrollment deposit. This officially confirms your spot in the entering class. Congratulations!

Access your College of Charleston email
Once you've paid your nonrefundable enrollment deposit, we will send your login credentials to the email account you used on your application. You can then use username@g.cofc.edu to conduct business with the College.

Complete your housing application
The on-campus housing application opens February 1 at 9 a.m. for incoming, first-year students. You will be able to access the application 12 hours after making your enrollment deposit. You must first have your College of Charleston email access to apply for housing.
Housing is guaranteed for incoming, first-year students who complete the on-campus housing application by May 15, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. EST. After May 15, students may add their name to an on-campus housing-application waitlist through the MyHousing/Dining portal. We encourage you to apply for housing as soon as possible once the application opens.
Housing is not available for transfer students. Read about our wait list.
To access the on-campus housing application:
- Sign into MyPortal and click the MyHousing/Dining tile.
- Click the Apply for Housing/Meal Plan button. You will be prompted to pay the $50 housing application fee.
- During the application process, you will designate your housing emergency contact, answer profile questions, select a meal plan, create a roommate group (optional) and sign your housing contract.
- For students under the age of 18, your parent or guardian will also be required to sign the housing contract.
- In June, you will get to select your residence hall and room based on the date you completed your on-campus housing application. More information on this process will be emailed to you leading up to room selection.

Register for Orientation, Advising and your courses
All incoming students must attend an orientation session. At orientation, you'll learn more about the campus and resources available to you, meet your new classmates and register for classes.

Send us your official, final high school transcripts
Have your high school send us your final, official high school transcript. Your transcript will verify that you've graduated from high school, and must come directly from the school of record.
Electronic submission (preferred)A digital copy is official and final if it is sent:
- directly by your high school, college or other institution to admapplicants@cofc.edu.
- through a secure transmission service (eScript, SCOIR, Parchment, Naviance or Common App).
Paper Copy
The paper transcript must be in an unopened envelope (if the seal is broken, the transcript is no longer considered official and will not be accepted).

Transcripts are not considered official under the following circumstances:
- The transcript has been opened and the original seal of the university envelope is broken.
- The transcript is a photocopy of the original.
- The transcript was printed by the student.
- The transcript was not produced by the school or university.
- The transcript was translated by the student or a non-professional translation service.
- The transcript comes directly from the student or a parent.
- The transcript is a photo of the official transcript that the student took with their phone.
- The transcript is a scanned PDF of the official transcript sent by the student.
NOTE: Transfer students who graduated outside of the state of S.C. and have more than 12 credit hours on file do not need to send high school transcripts.

Send us your official college transcripts (if applicable)
If you have previously attended a college or university, submit all official, final college transcripts (including dual-credit coursework taken in high school). Official transcripts are sent directly to the College of Charleston from your previous college or institution.
- Transfer credit evaluations will be completed by your confirmed orientation date at the latest.
- We cannot accept documents sent from students/parents.
- Official final college transcripts are required by the drop/add date of your first semester, or a registration hold will be placed.

- include an official signature of the appropriate official at the previous college or university, such as the registrar.
- bear the institutional seal or stamp.

Send us your official test scores (if applicable)
ACT/SAT
If you have opted to include your ACT/SAT scores as part of your application, make sure you have requested to have your scores sent to the College of Charleston.
- Scores must be received by June 1 for fall entrance or January 1 for spring entrance.
- Scores must be sent electronically directly from the testing agency to the College of Charleston: SAT (College Board) or ACT.

AP/IB/CLEP/DSST Scores
To send AP/IB/CLEP/DSST scores, make an official score request from the testing agency's website and select College of Charleston as the recipient. Learn more on the Transfer Student Resources page.
Important Reminders
- It may take up to three weeks for your test scores to process. You'll be unable to register for courses without your official test scores on file.
- If you opted to apply without submitting your official test scores, you may still want to send your test scores to the College of Charleston. Scores will be used for math placement purposes and S.C. state scholarships. You can, and should, submit official SAT/ACT results for any tests you've taken. If you applied test optional, this will not impact your admission decision. (Not applicable to transfer students.)

Complete your Lawful Presence Verification
All U.S. citizens must provide proof of their U.S. citizenship before enrolling.
If you've filed a FAFSA, you're all set. If you've not filed a FAFSA, complete the
MyPortal to provide proof of your U.S. citizenship. Non-U.S. citizens who are currently in the U.S. will provide proof of lawful presence during the application process. Non-U.S. citizens who will enroll on a student (F-1) visa type do not need to provide proof of lawful presence.

Send Your Immunization Forms
The College of Charleston requires students to have three vaccines:
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) Two doses at least 28 days apart for students born after 1956 Dose 1 given at first birthday or later Dose 2 given 28 days after first dose or later
- Quadrivalent Meningitis Vaccine administered at 16 years of age or after (Meningitis Serogroup B vaccine not required) Students over the age of 24 are not required to get a meningitis vaccine if they do not already have one.
- Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis (Tdap) given within the last 10 years.
If your immunization records are not issued in English, all immunization records must be translated into English.
New incoming students who are not in compliance with the College of Charleston immunization policy will have a registration hold placed on their account that prevents them from registering for classes at orientation.
