Meet Our Students
The Department of Management and Marketing has an impressive track record of providing students with the highest form of education here at the College of Charleston. From study abroad to internships, read how some students discovered what motivates their success.
Meet Destiny
Destiny Humphrey found the perfect major for her in the Department of Management and Marketing. As a marketing major, she has learned key marketing tactics and trends, applying her knowledge throughout various internships. During her time at The College, she's learned three main things: get involved, never be afraid to take opportunities and the power of networking. Destiny says she's found her passion and purpose in life, and now feels prepared to go and conquer the world!
I’m not only able to apply the concepts in class to my career, but I’ve also been able to learn how to market myself better.
Meet Taylor
Taylor completed two internships while at The College. She says that she would not have succeeded in these positions if it weren’t for the communication and leadership skills she learned through the management major. Shortly after graduating, Taylor began working at Bishops Lodge Hotel with Auberge Resorts as a HR management trainee.
Without the wonderful education and experiences that the college has offered, I would not be fortunate enough to graduate with such a wonderful job.
Meet Stella
Prior to coming to the College of Charleston, Stella’s goal as an incoming international business student was to broaden her global perspective. She sought out the opportunity to study abroad and was able to do so not once, but twice! Both of those incredible experiences abroad allowed her to fully immerse herself into a myriad of cultures to understand the world and herself better.
As I reflect on my time at the College of Charleston, I am filled with gratitude for the experiences that the School of Business granted me.
Meet Darby
During her sophomore year, Darby Ewing took Professor Dave Wyman’s Entrepreneurship Theory class. Here, she learned the importance of maintaining connections and received the best piece of advice: “Be comfortable with the uncomfortable.” Through Professor Wyman’s guidance, she entered Impact X, studied abroad and stayed true to her passions. Darby has worked for local female entrepreneurs, learned how to grow a business in our local economy, and worked with a smile on her face.
Throughout my time at The College, I have grown as a leader, a friend, and as an individual. This growth could not have been possible without the entrepreneurship program.
Meet Kylie
According to Kylie Stitzlein, studying business administration with a focus on leadership in sustainability at the College of Charleston has significantly contributed to her personal and professional growth. The diverse array of courses provided her with a solid grasp of essential business principles, crucial for effective management. During her time at the College of Charleston, Kylie undertook internships at both the Center for Sustainable Development on campus and abroad in Italy, offering her diverse perspectives and practical experiences. These opportunities reinforced the importance of considering environmental and social impacts alongside financial outcomes in business decision-making.
My commitment to sustainability has been further solidified, shaping my future endeavors with purpose and integrity.
