What we Offer

Learn more about the resources and labs that we can offer our students.
  • Wet Lab

The Wet Lab is designated for holding living organisms for teaching and research by faculty, staff, and students of the College of Charleston.

  • Boating

GML recently received delivery of a brand new boat that we have named the RV Coriolis! It’s a 24 foot skiff with a 150 hp Yamaha engine and was made for us by Carolina Yachts out of Beaufort, North Carolina. A davit arm was installed and will be used for pulling a trawling net and for lowering data collecting equipment such as the CTD or a Niskin bottle for water sampling.  It can accommodate up to 12 people and users of the boat will include grad students collecting data in the harbor as well as fall and spring semester graduate and undergraduate classes.

GML also has a collection of kayaks (single and double), canoes and paddleboards available for student use.

  • Fish & Invertebrate Collection

The collection comprises mainly coastal and estuarine fishes of South Carolina and the South Atlantic Bight.
