Concentration Overview

• Where can Quality and Risk Management take me?

  A Bachelor of Professional Studies degree with a concentration in quality and risk management will strengthen your skills in leadership, group processes, and organizational change.

  Risk managers are essential members of every successful business because leaders need to be able to anticipate their liabilities and develop strategic business and financial plans around that analysis. If you work in risk management, you will be asked to diversify, hedge and ensure against risk at every turn. Quality managers work with businesses to make sure that their product or services meets the customer’s demand.

  According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, a risk manager – or financial risk manager – earned a median annual salary of $106,090, in 2023*. By 2033, the BLS predicts that jobs in this field will increase much faster than the average by 17%*. Several core functions of financial managers, including risk management and cash management, are expected to be in high demand over the next decade as organizations expand.

• Required Coursework

  First, in order to declare this program of study, you must have completed an associate’s degree or be at least 21 years of age and have completed a series of prerequisite courses. Most students come to this program with some college credit; however, if you are interested in this program and do not have college credit or have not completed the pre-requisite courses, please speak with an advisor to discuss your options.

  In addition to prerequisite coursework, the B.P.S. program requires that students complete a core curriculum of 20-22 hours.

  Then, each student is required to complete 18 credit hours within a concentration.

  The courses in the advanced manufacturing concentration include:

  • MGMT 301 Management & Organizational Behavior
  • PMGT 301 Introduction to Project Management
  • PMGT 321 Managing Risk
  • PMGT 341 Managing Project Quality
  • PRST 322 Fundamentals of Process Management

  Students will also need to complete 15 additional electives hours. There are over 19 elective courses that students can choose from.

  Finally, depending on the number of transfer credits awarded, students will need to complete additional electives to reach the 122 credits required to graduate.
