In our program, you will learn how to manage complex projects from beginning to end. You'll also explore topics like how to manage a project budget, and how to lead, communicate, and motivate team members.

Concentration Overview

This program offers you a practical curriculum that covers setting goals, managing stakeholder relationships and integration. It prepares you to manage project scope, schedule, cost, risk and quality.

Where can project management take me?

A Bachelor of Professional Studies degree with a concentration in project management will strengthen your skills in leadership, communicating with stakeholders and creative problem solving. The strategies you learn in the BPS core classes and in the concentration classes will help you enter into a new field or advance your career.

According to the 2020 Project Management Salary Survey, the median annual salary for project managers in the United States was $116,000. Those with less than three years of experience earned a median annual salary of $83,000 while those with more than 15 years of experience earned a median annual salary of $120,000.

By staying within the budget and on schedule, businesses can maximize their costs and resources. As businesses and organizations expand into the global market and face increased competition, project managers are expected to be in high demand.

Required Coursework
First, in order to declare this program of study, you must have completed an associate’s degree or be at least 21 years of age and have completed a series of prerequisite courses. Most students come to this program with some college credit; however, if you are interested in this program and do not have college credit or have not completed the pre-requisite courses, please speak with an advisor to discuss your options.
In addition to prerequisite coursework, the B.P.S. program requires that students complete a core curriculum of 20-22 hours.
Then, each student is required to complete the concentration composed of 18 credit hours of required coursework and 12 credit hours of electives.
The courses in the project management concentration include:
- PMGT 301 Introduction to Project Management
- PMGT 311 Managing Project, Scope, Schedule and Cost
- PMGT 321 Managing Risk
- PMGT 331 Managing Stakeholder Engagement and Resource Procurement in Projects
- PMGT 341 Managing Project Quality
- PMGT 401 Project Management Capstone Simulation
Finally, students will need to complete 12 additional credit hours. There are over 35 electives that students can choose from.
