Payment Plan

The College of Charleston offers students and parents automatic scheduled payment plans to finance education and related expenses over the period of a semester.

  • Tuition and mandatory fees (including lab and matriculation fees)
  • Housing and food service costs

The Payment Plan DOES NOT include parking, late fees, Cougar Cards, and other miscellaneous costs.

The plan is offered exclusively by the college and replaces any past plans including promissory notes.

The payment schedule calculates the balance remaining after financial aid is applied; financial aid funds, such as loans, scholarships, grants, etc. are not recognized as payments toward the payment plan. Students may still elect to make full payment at time of registration.

About the Plan


Each semester, you can elect to enroll in the payment plan and schedule automatic payments to pay on the due date. To participate in a Payment Plan, you must sign up for a Plan prior to the semester due date.
  • How to Enroll in the Payment Plan
    Students:
    • Login to MyPortal
    • Select the eBill tile
    • Select "Payment Plans" from the top ribbon
    • Select the term/semester for your plan
    • Select the Payment Play for which you wish to enroll (5,4,3, or 2 installments)
    • Optional: Provide a down payment if desired (a down payment will reduce the amount of your entire bill in the payment plan. It does not replace your first due installment)
    • Review the Payment Schedule for the amount due for each installment to be automatically drafted for each due date and select "Continue"
    • Select the Payment Method and click "Continue"
    • Review the payment agreement, check "I agree to the terms and conditions," and click "Continue"
    • Once you've successfully enrolled in the Payment Plan, you can view all of your scheduled payments on the home screen of eBill.

    Authorized Users

    **Your student can add you as an Authorized User by following the instructions listed under "Billing".

  • Payment Plan Options and Cost

    The Payment Plan is interest free. However, the College will assess a $40 one-time administrative Payment Plan Fee each semester.

    You can select one of the monthly, twice monthly or weekly payment plans.  Please see the Billing Schedule for payment plan due dates. 

     

  • Late and Delinquent Accounts

    The College will assess late fees equal to 3.75% of the balance due for payments not received as scheduled. The College also reserves the right to assign your delinquent account to a collection agency and you will be responsible for all collection fees, any additional attorney fees and court costs.

    If a hold has been placed on your account for a missed payment please notify the Treasurer's Office immediately so your hold can be cleared.  It will not automatically clear your holds.

    Checks returned by the bank will result in removal from the plan with the entire amount becoming due and payable.

  • Financial Aid

    Any financial aid received or awarded to you through the College must be used toward computing the amount financed through the installment payment plan.

    The payment plan is for the balance remaining after the application of financial aid funds.

  • Making Payments

    Payment can be made through MyPortal or the Authorized Users' Portal using an e-Check or Credit Card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express). Payments may also be mailed to the Treasurer’s Office at:
