Special Programs and Interdisciplinary Programs

Departments also collaborate with other departments and programs on campus to provide you with science-rich interdisciplinary majors and minors, as well as guidance and support with your preparations for medical or other professional schools and health careers.
  • Health Professions Advising

If your dream is to become a doctor, dentist or nurse, consider that our students are admitted to professional schools at a higher rate than the national average.

While there are no formal "pre-med" or other "pre" healthcare (dentistry, optometry, pharmacy, veterinary, PT, PA, etc.) majors at the College of Charleston, we do offer the prerequisites you need to thrive in this industry.

The Health Professions Advising (pre-health) program helps you prepare for medical school or other professional programs you may be considering. We'll guide you on a path that includes:

    • Exploring a variety of healthcare professions.
    • Preparing you for your selected health profession career, both academically and personally.
    • Assisting you in applying to professional schools.

Bonus: Real-world opportunities are available at the Medical University of South Carolina, which is just down the street.
