Performance opportunities abound for violin students
- Piccolo Spoleto Festival: Perform in the Piccolo Spoleto Festival and other career-launching performance opportunities in the Charleston community.
- Orchestra: Take part in the College of Charleston orchestra under the direction of faculty member and Charleston Symphony Orchestra concertmaster Yuriy Bekker.
- Chamber Groups: Perform in chamber groups under the direction of internationally renowned pianist Volodymyr Vynnysky.

Courses Offered

As a College of Charleston student in violin performance, you will learn from a renowned faculty of acclaimed performers and recording artists.
Multiple award-winning violinist Lee-Chin Siow, who traces her musical lineage to legendary composers and violinists Eugène Ysaÿe and Henryk Wieniawkski, combines a stellar international performance career with teaching, wowing audiences in more than 20 countries on five continents while nurturing the next generation of young violinists in the College of Charleston and beyond.
Her students have won top prizes in international competitions and gained admission to prestigious schools including Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, Northwestern University Bienen School of Music, Johns Hopkins University, Boston University, University of Michigan, University of Cincinnati.Every student in the program benefits from intensive personal attention through weekly private lessons with Professor Siow.
The holistic program develops students in solo, ensemble and orchestra performance. You will have studio and technique classes, and receive dedicated chamber music and orchestra training to enhance your development for a performance career.
Versatile Violin Alumnus
Violinist, composer, producer and teacher Javier Orman '06 , performs with guitarist Tom Farrell as the duo KOZM. In addition to scoring soundtracks for short films and television, Orman founded Kidzymphony, an orchestral program for young children in Charleston.
