Performance Areas

A major emphasis in the music program at the College of Charleston, performance is at the heart of the curriculum. Performance provides you with opportunities to showcase your talents and refine your stage presence:

Guided by our dedicated faculty of active performing artists, you will perform solo recitals, collaborate in chamber ensembles and take the stage for event opportunities including Thursday Noon Student Recital Series, community concerts, touring programs and the Piccolo Spoleto Festival.

  • Award Winning Performances: Students have won major prizes in National and Regional Competitions, including the Music Teachers National Association, the National Association of Teachers of Singing, the Guitar Foundation of America, and the Schadt String Competitions.

  • Concert Choir Accolades: The College of Charleston Concert Choir received the highest honor an American choir can attain at performances at the prestigious American Choral Directors Association National Convention in Los Angeles. 

  • Soulful Gospel: The College of Charleston Gospel Choir is the National Collegiate Gospel Choir Southeast award winner and has appeared on the Good Morning America program on ABC Television.
