Discover Your Future in Music
High school musicians (and parents), join us for a full day of music, community and discovery. Meet our faculty, perform in a masterclass, enjoy student concerts and learn more about studying — and excelling — in music at the College of Charleston.
The Music Experience Day was incredibly instrumental in my decision to come to the College of Charleston. Getting to see the culmination of the students' work, as well as being able to talk and work with the teachers to understand their processes, allowed me to see what it would be like being a student in the music school.

What to Expect
- 10:00-10:50 Morning Coffee - Meet our music faculty and students.
- 10:50-11:00 Welcome in the Recital Hall - Gather and learn about the Department from Dr. Michael O'Brien, Department Chair.
- 11:00-11:45 Be in the Audience - Enjoy a special Student Showcase Concert featuring College of Charleston performers.
- 12:00-1:15 Masterclass - Work directly with and observe our faculty in your instrument or voice area.
- 1:15-2:00 Provided Pizza Lunch with current CofC Students - Connect with current music majors and hear about their experiences.
- 1:15-2:00 For Parents - Join a breakout session with faculty and staff to learn about:
- Applying to the College of Charleston and the Honors College
- Financial aid and scholarships
- Pathways for music and beyond (including pre-med and pre-law advising)
- 2:15-3:00 Learn from faculty about Composition and Musicology areas, double majoring across campus, the Honors College, and the pre-law and pre-med programs.
- 3:00-4:00 Campus Tour - Join our Cougar40 student tour guides in the Simons Center first floor lobby and explore our beautiful campus.

I was still trying to figure out what school would be the best fit for me, so having the opportunity to play in a master class setting was very exciting. I performed in the Masterclass, and the professors went over a few things with me and it was very helpful. Then we went on a tour of the school, and it was so pretty! I fell in love immediately with (the campus)! It was a very fun and amazing experience, and it definitely made me want to attend CofC!
