About the Program

The Geospatial Graduate Certificate Program at the College of Charleston is supported and managed by the Graduate Program in Environmental and Sustainability Studies and is designed to meet the growing demand for professionals skilled in geospatial technology, an essential tool in industries such as environmental science, urban planning, business, public health, and more. This certificate program offers both foundational and applied courses to equip students with the technical and practical skills required to thrive in the rapidly expanding geospatial field. 

The Geospatial Graduate Certificate is ideal for:


  • EVSS and MPA concurrent graduate students 

  • Graduate urban and regional planning certificate program participants 

  • Undergraduate students within cross-listed programs, such as Environmental and Sustainability Studies major and Geoinformatics minor 

  • Alumni seeking to enhance their qualifications with a specialized geospatial certificate 

  • Non-traditional students aiming to transition into the geospatial field or enhance their professional skills
