Undergraduate Programs

  • Mathematics, B.S.

    Get a foundation in calculus, linear algebra and abstract math. Then choose electives to broaden your studies or get focused!

    Turn data into insights! You’ll learn about probability, statistical modeling, regression analysis, experimental design and so much more.

  • Data Science, B.S.

    This is a joint program with the Department of Computer Science. It combines the skills and tools of mathematics and computer science. You choose an emphasis to fit your interests and career goals. You can choose science, business, social sciences, arts and humanities or language processing and world outlooks.

  • Mathematics Teacher Education Grades 9-12, B.S.

    This is a secondary education cognate major. You major in math while learning how to teach it! Don't worry, there are two advisors to help you on each part of this journey. This program is recognized by the National Council for Teachers for Mathematics (NCTM).

Accelerated Bachelor's-to-Master's Program (4+1)


Earn a Master's Degree in a shorter time period! Choose math or statistics concentration and then build a plan early to get all the courses you need.  Whether you want to pursue a career which requires a master’s degree in mathematics or prepare to get into a PhD program, this accelerated program is an excellent opportunity for strong students to get an advanced degree quickly.
  • Program Eligibility
    Outstanding and motivated mathematics majors can earn graduate credit during their senior year and earn a master’s degree in math or statistics in a shorter time period.
    • A minimum overall GPA of 3.2 and a minimum GPA of 3.5 in mathematics courses.
    • Two letters of recommendation from the College of Charleston Department of Mathematics faculty.
    • At least 90 credit hours of coursework and successful completion of both MATH 203 and MATH 295 and two from: MATH 303, MATH 311, MATH 323, or MATH 350.
    • Application for admission to this program should be made no later than one calendar year before completion fo the B.S. Degree.

  • Program Organization
    Students enrolled in this program typically complete their M.S. Degree within one calendar year after completing their B.S. Degree.
    • Each student will be assigned an academic advisor from the Department of Mathematics Faculty. The advisor will assist the student in the development of a plan of study.
    • Students in this program apply to the M.S. in Mathematical Sciences program upon completion of the bachelor's degree.
    • Students in this program, upon admission to the Graduate School, may apply up to 12 credit hours of graduate-level course work earned while completing their B.S. Degree towards their M.S. in Mathematical Sciences.
    • Only graduate-level courses in which the student obtained a grade of B or better may be applied to the M.S. Degree.
