Move-In

We can’t wait to welcome you to your home away from home!

Campus Housing is here to make your move into our residence halls and houses as easy as possible. You play an important role, too! Make sure to follow any instructions we email you and read below for some tips and reminders.

Fall 2026

We know you're all getting excited about move-in for 2026-2027. So are we! Fall 2026 move-in is August 14 and 15 and is by appointment only for all halls and houses.

Sunday, August 16, through Tuesday, August 18, will be available for move-in, as needed, and require an appointment as well. Streets will not be closed for unloading on these days, and you will need to park in a garage or find on-street parking to unload and move in your belongings.

Early move-in is August 12 and is for approved groups or extenuating circumstances only. There is a per-night fee associated with early move-in, based on the student's residence hall or house.

We will email you detailed instructions along the way. You can find general information here under Getting Ready for Move-In.

We can't wait to see you in August!

Getting Ready for Move-In

If you're moving into campus for the first time or need some reminders, read below.
  • Make an appointment by July 30, 2026

Your appointment time is a one-hour window for you to arrive, pick up your key and unload your car. You’re free to get settled in your space, at your own pace, after that.

If you select a Sunday, Monday or Tuesday appointment, you will be signing up for the day and not a specific arrival time.

Talk to anyone helping you move in before making an appointment. Please have no more than three people assisting you within the residence hall during move-in.

Talk to your roommate/suitemate about your appointment plans to help avoid overcrowding.

We’ll email you once you can start making appointments.

    To make your move-in appointment:

    • Log into the MyHousing/Dining portal.
    • Click Book Appointment
    • Under Book an Appointment, in the calendar, click on an available time on one of the move-in dates.
    • After selecting your time, click Yes to confirm. You will see a screen with your appointment under My Scheduled Appointments. Click Continue to complete the booking.
  • Review your floor plan and what to bring/not bring

You can see your room assignment and rate, and the specific floor plan for your room, in the MyHousing/Dining portal. Just log in, click on the Return to Housing or Meal Plan App button to go to your Housing Application, and then the Application Status page.

  • Review unloading and parking instructions

Each residence hall or house has unique driving directions, unloading spots, key pickup locations and parking instructions.

Since many streets are closed for move-in, we provide residence-hall-specific driving directions to get you to the unloading zone for check-in. Please use these, not GPS, to drive onto campus for move-in.

After unloading, follow instructions on your hall's page below to park in a designated move-in garage or lot. Do not leave your vehicle unattended in an unloading area - you may be towed. Our garages cannot handle vehicles taller than 8'2" or towed trailers. If you use either for move-in, you will need to find parking on your own (and you're probably bringing too much stuff).

After three hours of parking on campus, you must move your vehicle off campus.

We will email students in August with additional move-in details, including driving directions and parking instructions for fall 2026.

  • Mailing and Shipping Address

Your CofC Complex (mailing) address is on the home page of the MyHousing/Dining portal, under your name. You will get mailing and shipping instructions from Mail Services by early August should you need to send anything ahead of move-in.

Do not ship anything to your residence hall’s address – it is not your mailing/shipping address!

Limit how much you ship and do not send anything to arrive earlier than five business days before your move-in appointment.

  • Don’t forget your Cougar Card!

You will need your Cougar Card to access your residence hall/house as well as other campus benefits and services, including your meal plan. You must also bring a driver’s license or other government-issued ID.

    • Incoming students: You must have your Cougar Card to get your key and access your residence hall. If you have not enabled your mobile Cougar Card, do so before arriving on campus. If you signed the mobile opt-out form to get a physical Cougar Card and did not get it during orientation, it will be given to you during check-in upon showing your government-issued ID.

    • Returning students: You must have your mobile or physical Cougar Card to get your key and access your residence hall. Your physical card from last year or your new mobile card will be activated for your 2026-27 residence hall. If you have not enabled your mobile Cougar Card, you may do so before arriving on campus. Important: If you enable your mobile card, your physical card will be deactivated.

If you have lost a physical Cougar Card and do not want a mobile Cougar Card, please go to Campus Services HQ during move-in business hours or Public Safety outside of those hours to get a replacement card before you check in.

If you have questions about enabling your Cougar Card, contact Campus Services HQ at campusservices@charleston.edu or 843.953.1100.
