Wi-Fi

Enjoy reliable, high-speed internet with Apogee's ResNet.

Apogee is the College of Charleston's residential technology service provider. They've teamed up with Campus Housing to provide residents with high-speed Wi-Fi called ResNet.

All about ResNet

ResNet is our secure, high-speed Wi-Fi available for free to students living on campus via two different networks (MyResNet-5G and MyResnet-2G). These Wi-Fi networks are available only within the College’s residence halls and houses. (61 Vandy and 99 St. Philip Street do not use the Apogee network, but students still receive free Wi-Fi. Campus Housing provides instructions during move-in.)
  • What's included?

    • MyResNet
      • Up to 150 mbps download speeds and 100 mbps upload speeds
      • Connect up to 10 devices
    • MyResNetGuest
      • Guest network within residence halls providing users with internet in 24-hour blocks of time
      • Easy internet access for your friends and family without requiring your sign-in information or using one of your device slots!

  • Who can use ResNet?

To be eligible to use MyResNet-5G and MyResNet-2G, you must be a current College of Charleston student living on campus.

To be eligible to use MyResNet Guest, you do not have to be an on-campus resident. You just have to sign in! Directions on how to sign into the guest network are below.

  • How do I access ResNet?

Returning users: If you have used ResNet previously, you do not need to re-register.

New users: You’ll need to create a ResNet account through the CofC Apogee portal with your College of Charleston credentials before you can use the secure network.

From a PC, Mac or mobile device: Go to cofc.apogee.us to reach the portal. Enter your College of Charleston credentials to log in.

If your device does not have any connectivity: Go to your wireless settings and connect to "MyResNet Start Here." This will take you to the CofC Apogee portal where you can sign in with your College of Charleston credentials.

    • Click "Sign in" using your College of Charleston credentials and create your account.
    • From the popup alert, copy your personalized Wi-Fi passkey.
    • Choose "MyResNet-5G" from your list of available Wi-Fi networks and enter or paste your passkey.
    • Note: You can log back into the Apogee portal and change your password at any time. Click on "show Wi-Fi password" under Add Device tab.

    Connect to the network

    • Navigate to the wireless settings on each device.
    • Connect to "MyResNet-5G" (you can connect to MyResNet-2G if your device is not 5G-compatible).
    • Enter your Wi-Fi passkey when prompted to connect.
    • Enable the auto-join feature.
    • If you connected originally via the "MyResNet Start Here" network, go to your Wi-Fi settings and choose to forget that network.

    Helpful Tips

    • MyResNet-5G: Connect to MyResNet-5G for the fastest Wi-Fi connection. This should be your default setting.
    • Laptop Drivers: Outdated drivers, specifically many Intel drivers, could impact your connection or speed. Update your drive to ensure optimal performance.
    • Wired: Wired connections are not available in all locations on campus. If you choose to use wired, you must register your device with the Ethernet MAC address.
    • Wireless printers: Wireless printers cause wireless interference. Apogee recommends wireless printers be added to your additional device list by MAC address in your Apogee portal or connected directly via USB printer cable. Once completed, be sure to turn off any wireless signal/radio broadcasting from your printer.
  • How do my guests access ResNet?

From a PC, Mac or mobile device: Go to "MyResNet Start Here" in your wireless settings, which will take you to the Apogee portal, cofc.apogee.us

    • In the Apogee portal, click "Guests and Visitors."
    • Sign in and accept the terms.
    • You are now connected!
