Fitness Assessments & Personal Training

Are you physically fit? Campus Recreation Services is providing you the opportunity to figure it out by offering the College community fitness assessments and exercise prescriptions!

Assessments and Prescriptions

Fitness assessments are used to determine one’s overall fitness level and helps people set goals based on their standing among the general population. Fitness is made up of five components: cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular fitness (muscular strength and muscular endurance), flexibility, and body composition. The fitness assessment will measure each of these components to give you a better understanding of where your fitness level currently is. The fitness assessment takes approximately one hour and can be used to make fitness program recommendations while also offering benchmarks for recording improvements in members' physical fitness levels.

Following the assessment, participants also have the ability to meet with our exercise specialist to help design their own personalized exercise prescription program.  This type of interaction is designed for participants who are looking for more of an independent option than your traditional personal training interaction.  Participants are given guidance on how to get started and progress through their exercise journey.

Personal Training

Our personal training program provides students the opportunity to work more closely with our fitness specialist to achieve their fitness goals.  Each semester, we offer a limited number of opportunities for students to work with our staff in a more supervised setting.

After an initial consultation with our Fitness Coordinator, students are match based on availability with our team.  Opportunities to participate in our personal training program are limited and based on availability of our fitness specialist.

Please contact the CRS Director, Bucky Buchanan, at lbuchana@cofc.edu for additional information.
