30 for 30: African American Studies Alumni Spotlight

Celebrating 30 Years of History, Community, and Impact

In celebration of the
30th anniversary of African American Studies at the College of Charleston, our 30 for 30 Alumni Spotlight honors the people who carry the program’s legacy into their communities, careers, and everyday lives.

Each month, we will highlight five alumni, continuing until we have celebrated 30 alumni in honor of 30 years. Through their stories, we will explore how African American Studies has shaped their identities, inspired their work, and deepened their understanding of history, culture, and community.

From education and the arts to law, mental health, technology, and advocacy, these spotlights reflect the many paths our alumni have taken—and the lasting connections between their education and the work they do today.
