Parent & Guardian Information and Resources

The Academic Success and Retention Office offeres a holistic approach to supporting students in their academic journey at the College of Charleston.

Our staff, faculty fellows and student mentors help students navigate and overcome academic obstacles, social challenges, and address any other concerns. We understand the importance of parental involvement as a key piece to overall student success.

Consent for Release of Confidential Educational Records (FERPA)

In order for the Academic Success and Retention Office to share confidential education records (e.g., grades, status of withdrawal petition, etc.) with a parent, guardian, or other third party, the student will need to submit a signed FERPA Form to our office granting us consent to do so.

The form can be submitted either by presenting the form in-person or sending via email from the students College of Charleston email account. A student's written consent may be obtained by using the consent form available for download below.

College policy requires students to sign a separate FERPA Form for each office in order for educational records to be released to a third party.

For more on FERPA and the release of student educational records, please visit the Office of the Registrar.
