Our Facilities
The Simons Center for the Arts, which houses two of our traditional theatre spaces and some studios and workshops, is undergoing an extensive renovation project. In the meantime our larger mainstage productions will take place at the newly restored, historic College of Charleston Sottile Theatre, a 785-seat venue recently awarded the prestigious Carolopolis Interior Award by the Preservation Society of Charleston.
The Chapel Theatre is an intimate, 106-seat, proscenium-style space converted from a former church sanctuary.
The Barnet Courtyard is an outdoor space that features a covered performance area, sculpture garden, benches and a large lawn.

Classrooms, Studios and Production Shops
The Marion and Wayland H. Cato Jr. Center for the Arts offers two dance studio spaces and two acting/movement studio spaces and a lighting lab, all on the third floor.
During the Simons Center renovation, temporary relocations include: the design studio at Calhoun Annex (172 Calhoun St.); the scene shop, equipped with a wide variety of commercial-quality woodworking and metalworking tools, at 136 Saint Philip St.; and costume shop facilities spanning three floors of the historic building at 329 King St. — outfitted with high-end sewing machines, fitting rooms, as well as pattern and draping rooms and more.
