Mark Pyles, Ph.D.
Director

Mark Pyles serves as the Director of the School of Business Investment Program. During his time at the College, Pyles has published over 35 articles in peer-reviewed journals, including the Financial ReviewJournal of Financial Services ResearchJournal of Real Estate Finance and EconomicsQuarterly Review of Economics and FinanceJournal of Investing, and Journal of Behavioral Finance. In addition, he is the author of a textbook titled Applied Corporate Finance: Questions, Problems, and Making Decisions in the Real World.

Pyles obtained a M.S. in Economics and a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Kentucky, completing the latter in 2005. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation from the CFA Institute.

Adam Swalley
Associate Director

Adam is excited to help the Investment Program's students meet their learning and vocational goals. He also serves as the Associate Director of the College of Charleston's Carter Real Estate Center, which focuses on student services and advising for the Commercial Real Estate major, Real Estate minor, and Real Estate concentrations for the Business Administration majors.

Adam graduated with a BS in Communications from Lee University and an M. Div. from Moody Theological Seminary. Before coming to the College of Charleston in the fall of 2015, Swalley performed as in actor in Chicago and worked in non-profit spaces.
