Mark J. Buono
Director, Carter Real Estate Center

Mark Joseph Buono is currently a visiting professor at the College of Charleston. Before his retirement, Mark was a managing director and commercial real estate portfolio manager at the Global Atlantic Financial Group. Mark was a managing director at Goldman Sachs where he held various roles in the commercial real estate business for 20 years prior to his move to Global Atlantic. Before Goldman, Mark was in research and trading at Freddie Mac and an academic at Rutgers University and Temple University. Mark earned a Ph.D. in economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1986 and a B.S. in economics from the College of Charleston.

Adam Swalley
Associate Director, Carter Real Estate Center

Adam Swalley moved to Charleston in 2015 after graduate school and a career spent in the theatre in Chicago. He immediately loved Charleston, the people, and his work at the College of Charleston. Adam first worked for the Carter Real Estate Center as a coordinator in 2016 before returning in 2018 to his current role. He is most excited about using his time and abilities to help the College of Charleston’s real estate students realize their potential and meet their goals. Adam has earned a Bachelor of Science in Communications from Lee University and a Master of Divinity from Moody Theological Seminary.
