Center for Disability Services
The Center for Disability Services (CDS) views disabilities as an integral part of the rich diversity at the College of Charleston. To that end, we work collaboratively with students, faculty and staff to create an inclusive educational environment for students. Our approach is student-centered and interactive.
In a higher education setting, reasonable accommodations are modifications or adjustments in the academic environment that provide a qualified student with a disability equal access to the university’s programs, courses, services and activities. Providing accommodations does not compromise the essential elements of a course or program or weaken academic standards. Accommodations simply provide an alternative way to accomplish the requirements by eliminating or reducing disability-related barriers and providing a level playing field.
The Center for Disability Services (CDS) is pleased to announce the implementation of Accommodate, a core electronic case management system that will help to ensure that students with disabilities receive reasonable accommodations and services. Students, faculty and staff can access Accommodate to manage accommodations, obtain Professor Notification Letters, and check the status of other service requests.
