Opportunities outside of CCR


There are many opportunities in the Charleston area that may be of interest to seniors. Some are timely, so keep checking here for new events.
  • Take a class at the College of Charleston

    If you are 60 years old or older AND a resident of South Carolina, you can enroll in classes at the College of Charleston. Each semester, approximately 400 60+ students enroll in classes at the College. These students may be auditing classes or taking courses for credit.

    Tuition is free, however there is a $50 registration fee. You are also responsible for purchasing books or paying additional course fees (like lab fees and studio art fees), where applicable.

  • Charleston's Museum Mile Month 

    During the month of January 2025, enjoy access to participating Museum Mile sites with the purchase of one low ticket price! With the Museum Mile Month pass, you can spend an entire month learning about Charleston’s rich history and culture while visiting sites in the order that best fits your schedule. 

  • Great Decisions

    Great Decisions PosterGreat Decisions is America's largest discussion program on world affairs.  The program model involves reading the Great Decisions Briefing Book, some groups watch a video and folks meet in a Discussion Group to discuss the most critical global issues facing America today. The 2025 eight topics are American Foreign Policy at a Crossroads; U.S. Changing Leadership of the World Economy; U.S.-China Relations; India: Between China, the West, and the Global South; International Cooperation on Climate Change; The Future of NATO and European Security; American National Security Author: Julie George; and American Foreign Policy in the Middle East: Taking Stock and Looking Ahead.

    The Great Decisions program provides reading background information and policy options for the eight most critical issues facing America each year and serves as the focal text for discussion groups across the country.

    Charleston offers several ways to participate. You can find other groups in South Carolina on the Foreign Policy Association website.

  • Restaurant Week 2025
