Accessibility Testing Tools
The following testing tools will help you determine if digital resources are accessible. There are a wide variety of different automated testing tools for our platforms that are described below.
However, automated testing alone is never enough, and must be used in combination with manual human testing to ensure all elements are accessible. Manual testing methods include human content review, keyboard functionality testing, and human screen reader output review, at a minimum.

- PDF Accessibility Checker (PAC) - free PDF accessibility checking tool.
- Grackle for Google Docs - add-on that checks and fixes accessibility issues in Google Docs
Web Testing Tools
- DubBot – Automated website quality assurance tool focused primarily on accessibility compliance, including WCAG 2.1 and 2.2.
- WAVE Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool – Identifies many accessibility issues and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) errors while also supporting manual review of web content.
- Accessible Name & Description Inspector (ANDI) – Tool for testing accessibility and Section 508 compliance.
- alt Decision Tree – how to use the alt attribute of the image element in various situations.
- WebAIM Contrast Checker – Helps verify color contrast to meet WCAG 2.1 requirements, including a minimum 3:1 contrast ratio for graphics and user interface components.
- Deque Color Contrast Analyzer – Free online tool for evaluating color contrast accessibility.
- axe DevTools – Chrome extension that helps developers, testers, and designers identify accessibility issues.
- Chrome DevTools – Built-in Chrome accessibility features and inspection tools for developers.
- Accessibility Insights for Web – Browser extension for Chrome and Microsoft Edge used to test the accessibility of webpages and web applications.
- Accessibility Insights for Windows – Windows desktop application for testing the accessibility of Windows apps.
