Paul Steadman, AAI, ARM, AU, CIC '83

Paul Steadman is the president and chief executive officer of The Steadman Agency, Inc., an insurance and risk management firm.  The company, founded in 1897, has offices in Charleston and Walterboro, SC. Steadman joined the family business in 1986, became president in 1997, and purchased the firm in 2001.

Within the insurance industry, he has served on the board of directors of The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of SC and the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of Greater Charleston. He attained the CIC, ARM, AAI, AU professional designations.

Steadman serves on the board of directors of the Medical University of SC Children’s Hospital Fund. He also serves on the Gavalas Kolanko Foundation, an organization that provides scholarships for college students with physical disabilities. He was a founding member of the College of Charleston Alumni Advisory Board of the School of Business & Economics. He is a member of the Board of Governors at the College of Charleston School of Business, where he chairs the Continuing and Professional Education Committee. He is a founding board member of Beacon Community Bank in Charleston

He is a 1983 graduate of the College of Charleston, with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. As a guest lecturer in several insurance-related courses offered by the College of Charleston School of Business, Steadman enjoys interacting with students and serving the needs of the School.

He has been happily married to his wife, Cheryl, for 37 years.  They have two children, Chelsea and Palmer, both College of Charleston graduates.
