Organization and Staff
We are divided into two branches: fire prevention and emergency medical services.
Fire Prevention
- Provides protection against loss of life and property by fire through code enforcement
- Conducts public education.
- Participates in systematic fire inspections of campus residential & academic buildings, assemblies, and businesses.
Emergency Medical Services
Staffed exclusively by student volunteers, the emergency medical services branch of the College of Charleston Fire and EMS responds to medical emergencies in and around the College of Charleston Campus. All services of the College of Charleston EMS are provided at no cost to our students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Fire and EMS is certified as an Ambulance Service by SC DHEC and is authorized to provide care up to the intermediate level. Advanced life support services are provided by Charleston County EMS.
