Minors
Research shows that today's emerging professionals average five to seven career changes in their lifetime.
Not job changes. Career changes.
Pharmacist one day, social media manager the next.
Adding a minor to program of study can help you adapt to an ever-changing labor market. In addition to helping you in your future careers, adding a minor gives you a diverse range of skills.
You'll add knowledge and gain experiences in areas outside of your primary focus. Whether you're already entrenched in the Department of Physics and Astronomy or interested in testing the waters, consider one of these minors.
Biomedical physics
Biomedical physics is an interdisciplinary field where medical sciences, physics, mathematics, computational sciences and biology meet.
You'll be trained for cutting-edge careers in biomedical research, medicine, biophysics and biotechnology.
In addition to your coursework, you’ll have the chance to participate in mentored research.
Neuroscience
At its core, neuroscience is the study of the nervous system with a primary focus on the brain. Our brains are incredibly complex. They define who we are and what we do. Individualize your studies and take courses in biology, physics, psychology, anthropology, chemistry, computer science, data science and philosophy.
We also offer minors in the three major areas of study within our department:
- Physics
- Astronomy
- Meteorology
