Orientation Information - 2025

New students who have paid the non-refundable enrollment deposit to the Office of Admissions will receive orientation information via mail or email. Please do not make travel plans and/or lodging reservations until the assigned orientation date has been confirmed in MyPortal. 

Summer 2025 Orientation Dates

Below are the details for the in-person orientation sessions for students beginning classes at the College of Charleston in the fall of 2025. Please note that seating is limited, and reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis.

We strongly encourage incoming freshmen to attend an orientation session in June or July. However, for those unable to attend during these months due to scheduling conflicts, sessions will also be available on August 14 and 15.

CLOSED - Monday and Tuesday, June 16 and 17 

  • Honors, ARCH program, and SPECTRA students preferred and open to all freshmen students.

Thursday and Friday, June 19 and 20

  • Honors, ARCH program, and SPECTRA students preferred; and open to all freshmen students.

 Monday and Tuesday, June 23 and 24

  • Honors, ARCH program, and SPECTRA students preferred; they are also open to all freshmen students.

Friday, June 27

  • Open to all transfer students.

Monday and Tuesday, July 7 and 8

  •  Honors and ARCH program students preferred; also open to all freshmen students.

Thursday and Friday, July 10 and 11

  •  Honors and ARCH program students preferred; also open to all freshmen students.

Monday and Tuesday, July 14 and 15

  •  Honors and ARCH program students preferred; also open to all freshmen students.

Friday, July 18

  • Open to all transfer students.

Monday and Tuesday, July 21 and 22

  • Open to all freshmen students.

Monday, August 11

  • Open to all transfer students.

Thursday and Friday, August 14 and 15 (with the required virtual advising and registration session on July 23)

  • Open to all freshmen students who live more than 700 miles from Charleston, SC (students involved with sorority recruitment or Cougar Excursion will not be able to participate in the August 14-15 orientation session).
  • The family programming at this orientation will only be on Thursday, August 14, 2025. No required activities for family members are scheduled on August 15, 2025, or during the move-in weekend. 

IMPORTANT NOTE: Students attending the August 14 and 15 orientation session will have a required virtual advising and registration session on July 23, 2025.  If you cannot attend this virtual session in July, a partial fall semester course schedule may be created, and you can complete the rest of your course registration when you attend orientation on August 14 and 15. Course options will be limited, so students are encouraged to attend the virtual advising and registration day for the best course selection.

Students will be assigned to an advising and registration sessiom from 9 am to 12 noon EST or 1 pm to 4 pm EST.  They will receive an email with their assigned time by 5 pm on July 11.
