Summer Diversity Enrichment Academy participants displaying their academy completion certificates.The Eic G. Budds Summer Enrichment Academy empowers rising junior and senior undergraduates to take the next step toward a transformative career in public service.

This intensive four-day program provides participants with tools and guidance for applying to graduate programs that focus on public sector careers. Students gain valuable insights through engaging workshops on navigating the graduate school process, professional development sessions to hone their leadership skills and carefully curated employer networking opportunities. They will also visit and network with local government agencies and local non-profit agencies, gaining invaluble connections and insight.

2026 Itinerary


Day 1: Wednesday, June 10

  • Welcome Dinner and Introductions

Day 2: Thursday, June 11

  • Introductions and students will visit and engage with local non-profit agencies that work with local municipalities (i.e. Chamber of Commerce and Charleston Parks Conservancy)
  • Students will network with faculty and employers

Day 3: Friday, June 12

  • Engage students with visits to local government agencies
  • Students will participate in a panel discussion of local government employees (i.e. City of Goose Creek and Town of Mount Pleasant)

Day 4: Saturday, June 13

  • Students will attend a series of workshops covering the following topics:
    • Finding the Graduate School for You
    • Graduate School Application Workshop
    • Resume, Cover Letter, & Networking Workshop

Applicants must

  • have an interest in serving the public
  • be enrolled at a undergraduate institution (rising junior/senior)
  • be interested in attending graduate school
  • want to serve in a nonprofit or government agency
