Dr. Kameelah Martin, African American Studies


Awarded the 2024–25 US–UK Fulbright Global Challenges Teaching Award in Racial Justice. Dr. Martin is currently leading a global initiative to link the College's African American Studies program with Birmingham City University's Black Studies Program in the UK.

Dr. Tom Hicks, Music

Dr. William (Billy) Vandenburgh, Department of Accounting and Business Law

Dr. Kelley Cours Anderson, Department of Management & Marketing


  1. Received the Charleston Chapter of the American Marketing Association (CAMA) Marketing Professor of the Year Award at the CAMA 2026 Spark! Awards. This recognition highlights her impact on marketing education, community engagement, and mentorship of award-winning students.
  2. Received the 2026 Phygital Science Award at the American Psychological Association (APA) Annual Summit. She was invited to present her award-winning research as part of an international panel, introducing the RENEW framework to advance employee well-being and sustainability in remote and hybrid work environments.

Dr. Chad Gibbs, Jewish Studies


Published Survival at Treblinka: Geography, Gender, and Social Networks in Jewish Resistance (University of Wisconsin Press, 2026), part of the George L. Mosse Series in the History of European Culture, Sexuality, and Ideas. The book was named First Runner-Up for the George L. Mosse First Book Prize.

Prestigious education award from the  Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology (SICB)

M. Patricia Morse Award for Excellence and Innovation in Science Education is given annually by SICB for significant achievement in science education. Bob was recognized for work in directing the Research Experiences for Undergraduates program at Grice Marine Lab, for  contributions for 6 years as chair of the SICB Educational Council, for his  “Student as Producer” approach to classroom teaching, and for his efforts toward diversity and inclusion in STEM.

Southern Association of Women Historians Julia Cherry Spruil Award

Shannon Eaves has won the Southern Association of Women Historians 2026 Julia Cherry Spruill Award, awarded annually for the best book in southern women’s history, broadly construed for her book Sexual Violence and American Slavery.

Dr. Morgan Koerner, Dept. of German and Russian Studies


Best Article of Die Unterrichtspraxis/ Teaching German

The 2025 Award for Best Article in Die Unterrichtspraxis / Teaching German recipient is Morgan Koerner of College of Charleston in Charleston, SC. His article, “Racial literacy and performative pedagogies in the German theater practicum,”  explores the potential and pitfalls of performative pedagogies for teaching literature that thematizes issues of race and racism and argues that racial literacy requires a rethinking of drama-pedagogical practice.
