Meet Our Teachers

Shea McLernon, Master Teacher

Shea McLernon is the Master Teacher of the 4/5 year olds class. She graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education from CofC. During her time at CofC she worked as a TA in the Butterfly room. She has called Charleston home since she was 3 years old and her family is currently on John’s Island. She loves to rollerblade with her dog, read, and spend time with family and friends.

Nate Nearpass, Master Teacher

Nate Nearpass is the Master Teacher of the 4/5 year old class. He completed his undergraduate degree at Moody Bible Institute with a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Ministry. He received his Masters of Arts in Teaching in Elementary Education from National Louis University. He has been teaching 4 and 5 year olds in Chicago, IL for the past seven years. He taught third grade for three years and kindergarten for four years. When Nate is not teaching, he is an aspiring birder who loves the outdoors. He enjoys visiting parks, beaches, and national forests with his family.

Gordon Grasmann, Master Teacher

Gordon Grasmann is the Master Teacher of the 3 year olds class. He received his undergraduate degree in Communications from Elon University and his Master of Arts in Elementary Education from New Jersey City University. He has 9 years of teaching experience, mostly with 3's at a preschool in Hoboken NJ. This past year he taught 4's at Addlestone Hebrew Academy in West Ashley. He loves spending time with his family; beach time, biking, playing tennis and reading. He enjoys watching sports (the Mets!), playing basketball and paddleboarding.

Danielle Wheeler, Master Teacher

Danielle Wheeler is the Master Teacher of the 2 year old class. She received her undergraduate degree in History from the College of Charleston and her Master of Arts in Teaching Early Childhood Education from the College of Charleston. During her time at the College of Charleston she was a Graduate Assistant at ECDC. She enjoys reading, writing, and working in her garden.
