Early Childhood Development Center
A unique experience for young children and College of Charleston Students.
Serving as an academic unit within the School of Education, the N. E. Miles Early Childhood Development Center, or ECDC as it is commonly known, has been serving children ages two through kindergarten in the Charleston community since 1974. We are dedicated to working in partnership with the College of Charleston, faculty, students, and families across Charleston to ensure a quality educational experience for all children.
At ECDC, we believe the purpose of early childhood education is to help children develop a healthy self-image, a sense of responsibility and helpfulness, and learn problem-solving and decision-making skills. When children have opportunities to develop executive function and self-regulation skills, individuals and society experience lifelong benefits.
I appreciate that the teachers at ECDC taught me to think critically at a younger age than I might have been taught at another preschool and kindergarten.
