M.S. Data Science and Analytics


The innovative Master of Science program in Data Science and Analytics is tailored to train the next generation of leaders and professionals in the cutting-edge field of data science. Admission Criteria:

  • Prospective students must demonstrate competency in all four areas:
    • Statistics
    • Linear Algebra
    • Calculus
    • Computer Programming
  • Based on your qualifications:
    • Even if you might not have the proper competency in one of the three math areas (Statistics, Linear Algebra, or Calculus), you might be offered conditional acceptance.
  • These prerequisite areas should be covered by:
    • Coursework from any regionally accredited college or university. A grade of B or higher is preferred.
  • For Computer Programming:
    • Competency can be demonstrated either through coursework or, alternatively, in your Statement of Purpose document by detailing relevant online courses, work experience, or projects. This alternative is especially relevant for applicants whose transcripts do not reflect formal coursework in programming.

Key Highlights of Our Master's Program


  1. Coursework Requirement: Based on the MS DATA Program Catalog, there are 30 credit hours required to finish the degree: 
    • 18 required credit hours
    • 6 elective credit hours
    • 6 practicum/thesis credit hours
  2. Course Duration: The program can optionally be completed in 12 months, requiring 12 credit hours each in Fall and Spring, and 6 in Summer. Students may choose to finish in 18 months, 24 months...
  3. Graduate Assistantships: Limited number of paid assistantship positions are offered by our program, along with the graduate school fellowships. To be considered, submit your application by the priority deadline.
  4. Course Options: Candidates can choose between the thesis or practicum options.
    • Thesis requires doing research and a dissertation under supervision of an academic advisor.
    • Practicum embeds candidates with companies in order for them to learn hands-on outside the classroom.

  2. Application Fee: Pay the $50 non-refundable application fee
    • can be waived based on competency in all four areas mentioned above.
  3. Transcripts: Submit official transcripts from all previously attended institutions (international transcripts will require credential evaluation)
  4. Statement of Purpose: Write a 300-500 word statement discussing your reasons for applying to the program, areas of interest, and career objectives.

  7. GRE 
    • can be waived based on competency in all four areas mentioned above.
  8. English Language Proficiency: If English is not your native language, provide proof of English proficiency through TOEFL or IELTS scores
