Post 9/11 GI Bill® (Chapter 33)
If you served on active duty after September 10, 2001, you may qualify for the Post 9/11 GI Bill® (Chapter 33) to help pay for college expenses.
Eligiblity
You may be eligible for Chapter 33 benefits if you:
- served at least 90 days on active duty on or after September 11, 2001, OR
- are still on active duty, OR
- received an honorable discharge from active duty, OR
- are a dependent child using benefits transferred by a qualifying veteran or service member.

Survivors' and Dependents' Education Assistance Program (Chapter 35)
Eligiblity
If you’re the child or spouse of a veteran or service member who has died, is captured or missing, or has disabilities, you may be eligible for help paying for school through the Survivors' and Dependents' Educational Assistance (DEA) program.

SC TUITION ASSISTANCE FOR CERTAIN WAR VETERANS’ CHILDREN
Eligiblity
Students receiving Chapter 35 benefits may also be eligible for free tuition from the state of South Carolina. You may be eligible if you are the qualified child of a deceased or disabled veteran who meets certain residency requirements.

Veteran Readiness and Employment (Chapter 31)
If you have a service-connected disability that limits your ability to work or prevents you from working, you may be eligible for Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR&E) benefits.
Eligiblity - Veteran
You may be eligible for VR&E benefits if you:
- didn't receive a dishonorable discharge AND
- have a service-connected disability rating of at least 10% from the VA.
Eligiblity - Active Duty
You may be eligible for VR&E benefits if you:
- have a 20% or higher pre-discharge disability rating (memorandum rating ) and will soon leave the military OR
- are waiting to be discharged because of a severe illness or injury that occurred while you were on active duty.

Montgomery GI Bill® Active Duty (Chapter 30)
If you've served at least two years on active duty, you may qualify for the Montgomery GI Bill® Active Duty (MGIB-AD) program.
Eligiblity
You may be eligible for MGIB-AD (Chapter 30) benefits if you:
- have an honorable discharge, AND
- have a high school diploma, GED or 12 hours of college credit, AND
- meet other requirements.

Montgomery GI Bill® Selected Reserves (Chapter 1606)
Eligiblity
You may be eligible for MGIB-SR program benefits and up to 36 months of education and training benefits if you're a member of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps or Coast Guard Reserve, or Air National Guard.
Additional requirements apply including your service obligation, high school diploma or equivalent, and a good standing while serving in your active Selected Reserve unit.
