B.S. in Biochemistry

Examine the molecular machinery of life and gain an understanding of the chemical processes allowing organisms to thrive and evolve.

In our American Chemical Society (ACS) certified program, you'll gain real-world expertise through coursework and labs exploring topics from biological molecules to electrochemical reactions to environmental chemistry.

  • Preparation for Advanced Degrees: The B.S. in Biochemistry is often the preferred program for those considering medical or professional school or an advanced degree in biochemistry or related fields.
  • Depth of Coursework: The B.S. in Biochemistry requires more extensive, required biochemistry coursework including additional laboratory work in chemistry, biology, and physics.
  • Extensive Laboratory Experience: The B.S. program emphasizes hands-on laboratory work, providing you with extensive experience with experimental techniques and equipment.
  • Specialization Exploration:  In our B.S. program, you'll explore opportunities for specialization including areas of structural biology, enzymology, and metabolism.

B.A. in Biochemistry

Combine your passion for biochemistry with your other interests. The Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry may be the best option for students who have an interest in combining biochemistry with other career pursuits.

  • Diverse Career Paths: The B.A. program offers versatility for students considering careers involving biochemistry but may also require a broader educational background including science communications, education, science policy, science law and technology, and healthcare administration.

  • Broadened Curriculum: The B.A. program has fewer required courses allowing you to combine biochemistry with courses from other disciplines such as social sciences, humanities or business.
  • Preparation for Professional Schools: The B.A. program may be an option for those preparing  for law, business or medical schools as it allows you to fulfill prerequisite requirements while exploring other areas beyond the natural sciences.
