Performance Highlights

Gretchen McLaine, PhD is the Chair of the Department of Theatre and Dance and an Associate Professor of Dance. She received her BA in Dance from Winthrop University, her MA in Dance from American University, her Ph.D. in Human Development from Marywood University, and holds certifications in Labanotation.

McLaine has previously taught at American University, the University of Oklahoma, and DeSales University. She has served as a teacher, choreographer, director, and performer throughout the United States. 

Gretchen presents her research at national conferences, including the Performing Arts Medical Association Annual Symposium, the Dance Kinesiology Teachers’ Conference, American College Dance Association, and National Dance Education Organization, where she served on the Board of Directors as the Director of Student Initiatives for seven years. 

She has published articles in the Journal of Dance Education, and is the author of Understanding dance: An immersive experience.
