Student Wellness is a central component to overall success in the college experience. The Division of Student Affairs and College of Charleston are dedicated to promoting the well-being and resiliency of all students by providing resources for a safe, healthy, collaborative and inclusive experience.

The Academic Advising and Planning Center (AAPC) prepares undergraduate students to navigate all aspects of academic planning by promoting an atmosphere that encourages self-exploration and resource utilization in support of academic success, as well as the timely and informed pursuit of an academic major.

Campus Recreation Services

The Campus Recreation Services office serves the campus community by offering opportunities for students, faculty and staff to pursue an active, healthy lifestyle. We offer opportunities for individual and team competition in intramural sports, a chance to participate in over 25 sport clubs, facilities for open recreation and fitness programming, along with outdoor adventures and instructional programs.

Center for Student Learning

The Center for Student Learning provides comprehensive academic support programs for College of Charleston students as they strive for excellence in learning, while promoting student leadership and development through peer education experiences. There are over 150 student employees who provide excellent peer education through tutoring, supplemental education, and academic coaching.

Collegiate Recovery Program

The Collegiate Recovery Program provides a safe and nurturing student-focused community in which students in recovery from substance and/or addictive disorders can be empowered in furthering their academic, professional, and personal potential to become healthy, responsible, productive members of society. Our CRP aims to help our sober students stay substance-free through peer-to-peer support, group support, and connection to the local recovering community.

Students 4Support

Students 4 Support is a group of highly trained and certified volunteers who provide nationally recognized crisis response techniques in a confidential, non-judgment environment. Student 4 Support team members are not professional counselors and do not provide therapy.

Gender and Sexuality Equity Center (GSEC)/PRIDE Center

The Gender and Sexuality Equity Center (GSEC) upholds the core values of equality for all members of the College of Charleston community including students, faculty, and staff. We advocate for a culture of resistance against inequality, judgment, prejudice and bias in all its forms.

The Higdon Center utilizes collaborative relationships to provide resources and opportunities to inspire student growth and development. Our office provides leadership experiences for all students and advises/supports the Fraternity & Sorority Life community at the College. Public Safety

The College’s nationally accredited Department of Public Safety is committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors. Our public safety personnel provide crime prevention, event management and police services 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Student Health Services

Student Health Services supports wellness, to provide early diagnosis and treatment of the conditions which our students have or develop while in attendance at the College. Additionally, we hope to develop in our students an awareness of the importance of regular health maintenance, and how to utilize available health care in a timely and cost-effective manner.
