We want every HSS student to have the opportunity to learn in and out of the classroom. We have listed the scholarships available within our school below. These do not even include additional state, institutional, department or outside scholarships for which you as a student may be eligible.

  • Jordan Rively Scholarship

    This scholarship is in memory of Joe Rively's grandparents for funding his College of Charleston education. It is awarded to one student annually in the amount of $2,500. Applications open Nov. 1.

    Requirements

    • Student must be pursuing a B.A. within the School of Humanities and Social Sciences
    • Student must exhibit financial need

    Preference

    • Political science majors

  • Maria De La Guardia Scholarship

    Since earning her B.A. in political science at the College of Charleston, Maria De La Guardia '85 has continued to be an ardent supporter of the College. Maria values the education she received and would like to ensure that out-of-state students, like herself, are granted the opportunity to explore academic excellence and have access to resources for success. This scholarship is awarded to one student for $2,500 a year and can be renewable. The application opens on Nov. 1.

    Requirements

    • Student must be out-of-state 
    • Student must be an incoming freshman, unless renewed
    • Student must be a declared major in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences 

    Preference

    • Student displays financial need

    Renewal Criteria

    • Student maintains a 3.0 GPA
    • Student remains a declared major in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences  
    • Student displays leadership and dedication to a program or department within the School of Humanities and Social Sciences
