Crossing the Cistern (CTC) provides support and resources for you to improve your academic standing. The program helps you reengage in your studies and carry that momentum through to graduation and crossing the cistern - the College of Charleston's traditional symbol of achieving your degree.
The program focuses on the retention and well-being of all students, with an emphasis on supporting all CofC enrolled students.
Program Eligility
- Declared major in the School of Engineering, Computing, and Mathematics
- Minimum of 30 credit hours
- GPA 2.0-2.9
- One year commitment to the program

A College of Charleston Tradition
College of Charleston graduates literally "cross the cistern" to receive their degree. However, you might not want to cross too early. Many students believe that walking across the Cistern before commencement will jinx their chances of graduating.
