Maureen Porzio '10, MBA '11

Owner, Porzio's Specialty Foods

Ms. Porzio is originally from Savannah, Georgia. While at the College of Charleston, she started as a Chemistry major, then switched to Business after realizing her passion for SIFE (Students In Free Enterprise), now known as ENACTUS.  She served as President for this organization throughout her undergraduate years, where she organized and managed numerous projects in entrepreneurship, financial literacy and business ethics.  This gave her the opportunity to serve the community locally and abroad.

During her college years, she was involved with many impactful endeavors included directing the Palmetto Ros Project, where she partnered with YES Carolina to provide business courses for kids who either wanted to start a business or sold palmetto roses around the city.  She also led the Technology for Africa where they raised $87,000 and traveled to Cameroon to set up three computer labs and teach entrepreneurship in different regions of the country.  This group won several competitions regionally and nationally and grew the organization from 12 members to 75 active members throughout my term.

Ms. Porzio founded Porzio’s LLC, a specialty food manufacturing company that works with local farms to bottle handcrafted sauces and condiments.  These recipes were passed down for over 100 years from her family who pioneered the first pizzeria in Savannah, GA.  Her business now has over 1,000 specialty shops and grocery stores with three growing product lines.  She also works with several organizations around the community to serve meals and provide Pasta Sauce for every jar that is sold.
