Stephen K. Pond
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, The Education Center
Steve Pond is the Chairman and CEO of The Education Center, a publisher of magazines and books for grade school teachers. He earned his MBA at Harvard University in 1971 and was also named a CBS Foundation Fellow. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Colgate University as a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
His previous positions include:
Chairman, Northstar Travel Media, a publisher of newspapers, magazines, directories and online services for the travel industry.
- President, Variety, Inc., a publisher of newspapers, magazines and online services for the entertainment industry worldwide.
- President and Founder, Communications/Today, a publisher of business newspapers and magazines.
- Editor-in-Chief, Home Furnishings Daily.
As an avid champion of education, Pond has served on a number of education boards including Harvard Business School Publishing Company, Fuqua School at Duke University, Babcock School at Wake Forest University, Colgate University, Davidson College and the Forsyth Country Day School. Currently, he is on the board of the Chief Executives Organization.
In addition, Pond has been responsible for seminars for CEOs at Stanford, Wharton, Kellogg, Duke, IMD in Switzerland, and others in his role as Chairman of Executive
Education for the Young Presidents Organization and the World Presidents Organization.
Pond is also head of Education for the Chief Executives Organization. For the past 25 years, he has served as Chairman of the Harvard Presidents Seminar for the Young Presidents Organization, the World Presidents Organization and the Chief Executives Organization.
In 2010, 480 CEOs from around the world came to Boston for the weeklong seminars.
