William Finn
After serving 20 years as Chairman and CEO of AstenJohnson, in 2006, Bill retired as Chief Executive Officer. He remained Chairman until July 2018. He started his 54-year career with AstenJohnson as a college intern.
AstenJohnson serves a variety of global industries with engineered materials. It has operations in five states, two Canadian provinces, Belgium, Czech Republic, and China. AstenJohnson’s Corporate Headquarters are in Charleston, South Carolina.
He also has served or serves on several public(NYSE), corporate and family company boards.
He has always been active in his community and has served on many community boards. He is currently Treasurer of the SCETV Endowment. He is also past Chairman of Trident United Way.
Bill was Past Chairman of the Charleston Regional Development Alliance.
Mr. Finn has also been active in manufacturing issues locally and statewide and was Past Chairman of the South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance. He also is a long-time member of the Trident Technical College Foundation Board. He is Chairman of Turn90, a recidivism program of high-risk recently released detainee’s.
Mr. Finn has is an active member of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and the Chief Executives Organization (CEO).
Mr. Finn is a member and Past Chairman of the Board of Governors of the School of Business and for 15 years has served as a Business Advisor to the Schottland Scholars.
Mr. Finn received a bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering from the Thomas Jefferson University and a master’s degree in Textile Engineering from the Institute of Textile Technology. He is also a graduate of the President’s Program at Harvard Business School. Mr Finn is also served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Philadelphia University and as a Trustee of Thomas Jefferson University which merged with Philadelphia University.
He received an Honorary PhD from the College of Charleston for long time involvement with the School of Business.
