Research Interests

Kwak’s research interests relate to the provision of social welfare for marginalized individuals and related politics, with a primary focus on the United States. Specifically, her research seeks to understand the political and socio-economic conditions that shape state welfare policies, the interplay of politics and institutions as they impact welfare policymaking, and the ways in which welfare policy affects the well-being of vulnerable populations. Other research interests include intergovernmental relations in promoting social equity through policy implementation.
