Business, etc.

E.xecutive Education, T.raining and C.areer Development

Business, etc. is a co-curricular program built to enhance the academic experience through an industry-led speaker series, training and certification courses, or career and professional development workshops. At the College of Charleston, building on your soft skills is just as important as the hard skills you learn in the classroom.

The Business, etc. program is held each Friday and will be associated with one of the three ETC buckets: executive education, training and certifications, or career development.

Executive Education

The Executive Speaker Series features guest speakers from varied industries, business environments and professional backgrounds. These current and former C-suite executives share industry insight and offer career advice to MBA candidates. Students get firsthand accounts and an insider perspective on business operations, financial markets and global trade through multinational companies from diverse market and industry sectors.

Training and Certifications

Industry- and skill-specific certifications can position any resume positively in a competitive job market. The program provides the training and hours required to complete the Microsoft Excel Certiport certification, the Truist Leadership certification and other industry-leading exams. In addition, the program encourages candidates to meet with their career coach, executive mentors and faculty to identify potential certifications or conferences that may be beneficial to specific career goals.

Career Development

In addition to personalized one-on-one career coaching and career resources, the program provides advanced workshops on topics including salary negotiation, personal branding, effective networking and job search strategies, and resume development. Topics are presented by experts in the College of Charleston and business communities and are designed to help students stay focused on career goals and job search preparation.
